Fiona MacFarlane has recently self-published the entertaining book Quirky Names in Tasmanian History.

It lists 1000 of the more interesting names in Tasmanian history and may provide some inspirational ideas for expectant parents. For instance, why call your child John Smith when there are names around like Raspberry Sucker and Brown Dolphin?

Several lists and indexes have been compiled so far by Research Tasmania. This is an ongoing project.

The majority of lists and indexes are related to Tasmanian convict history.

 

Research Tasmania is undertaking several research projects, mostly related to Tasmanian convict history.

The major current project at present is working with Dr Dianne Snowden to research and write a book about the 180 female convicts transported on the Rajah in 1841.
