Quirky Names in Tasmanian History is a fabulous
little book that will give you lots of laughs. Fiona MacFarlane
has compiled a list of 1000 names of Tasmanians from historical
records and indexes. Some of you may know Fiona as one of the archivists
at the Archives Office of Tasmania.
The book includes illustrations of a few of the characters
by Stefan Le Mottee, the cover was designed by Chris Downes and
the book has been self-published by Fiona.
This book makes a fantastic present, suitable for
both children and adults. How would you like to be called Raspberry
Sucker or Catholic Burns? The names are split into
sections with headings such as Blowing One's Trumpet, Toilet
Humour and In a Spot of Bother.
You can order copies of the book directly from the
author—email Fiona
MacFarlane or write to her at 40 Mirramar Park, Blackmans Bay
TAS 7052.
