Several research projects are currently being undertaken or have been completed by Research Tasmania. These are listed here with links to find out more about them.

Australasia convicts

This research project has been completed and resulted in the publication of A Drift of 'Derwent Ducks': Lives of the 200 female Irish convicts transported on the Australasia from Dublin to Hobart in 1849.

Rajah convicts

This research project is currently being undertaken with Dr Dianne Snowden. The lives of each of the 180 Rajah convicts are being researched and we are trying to identify those who were involved in making the Rajah Quilt.

Regulations for Probation Passholders This research project is currently being undertaken in order to further investigate the regulations for probation passholders related to repaying their transportation costs prior to being eligible for a Ticket-of-Leave.

Memorials for Indulgences This research project is partly completed and involves indexing the convicts who made memorials for indulgences as found in the Archives Office of Tasmania's CON 44 series of records.
